The U.S. Army has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) and World Wide Technology (WWT) to spearhead "Project Griffin," a newly announced $2.6 million pilot program designed to enhance the military's cyber defenses using artificial intelligence. As part of the broader Army Rapid Defensive of Cyber Systems (ARDS) initiative, the pilot aims to develop an agentic, autonomous AI platform that allows cyber defenders to detect, divert, and deceive network threats significantly faster than manual human review. By leaning on commercial innovation from AWS and WWT, the Army intends to move at the "speed of business" to field AI tools that maintain a secure, technological edge against adversaries.
