On Thursday afternoon and evening, Amazon experienced a significant technical disruption that impacted tens of thousands of users across the United States. According to outage-tracking platform Downdetector, reports peaked at over 20,000 as customers encountered widespread issues with the e-commerce platform's core functions, including checkout failures, missing product prices, and account access errors. Amazon Prime Video and some Amazon Web Services (AWS) also saw a spike in reported issues. While the disruption occurred just days after AWS data centers in the Middle East sustained physical damage from drone strikes, there has been no official confirmation linking the two events. Amazon engineers worked to patch the system, and services were largely restored by the late evening.
