Within the last few months, more companies have been either shifting their entire business operation permanently to a remote setting or pushing out the return-to-office date for their employees. Google announced that its staff would be allowed to work from home until July 2021 due to uncertainties around the length of the pandemic. Earlier, in May, Shopify followed suit by permanently shifting to a work-from-home policy. Tobi Lutke, Shopify CEO, notes “The future of the office is to act as an on-ramp to the same digital workplace that you can access from your #WFH setup.”
