Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced localized service disruptions in its Middle East (UAE) region after unidentified objects struck a data center, resulting in a fire. To ensure safety and contain the situation, local emergency crews temporarily shut off power to the affected availability zone (mec1-az2). While the incident impacted several core services, including EC2, S3, and DynamoDB, AWS quickly initiated standard resilience procedures by rerouting traffic to alternate, operational zones within the region. Engineers are actively coordinating with local authorities to safely restore power, assess data health, and re-establish full connectivity.
