The healthcare sector is rapidly adopting agentic AI to tackle both clinician burnout and patient confusion. Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently highlighted its Amazon Connect Health service, which integrates AI directly into existing electronic health record systems to automate back-office administrative tasks. By handling pre-visit summaries, real-time visit documentation, and medical coding, AWS aims to free up clinicians' time for actual patient care. On the consumer front, UnitedHealthcare has launched "Avery," a new AI companion integrated into its app and website. Avery helps millions of members seamlessly navigate their benefits, estimate costs, check claims, and schedule appointments, while offering smooth, context-aware handoffs to human representatives when needed. Together, these innovations highlight a comprehensive "back-office to front-end" approach that empowers doctors and makes the healthcare system easier for patients to navigate.
