This organization helps aspiring IT professionals who may lack traditional backgrounds but have a strong desire to break into tech. Finding volunteers to teach, mentor, and support students is crucial to their success. However, tracking volunteer availability and coordinating schedules using spreadsheets and phone calls was time-consuming and inefficient.
THE CHALLENGE
Like many nonprofits, securing funds for system enhancements is an uphill battle. Our client needed to track volunteers and their hours without investing in custom solutions or complex configurations. Leveraging free or low-cost apps was appealing, even if they didn’t fully meet user needs.

OUR SOLUTION
We implemented Salesforce.org’s V4S app, a basic volunteer management tool that tracks volunteers and their skills, posts jobs and shifts, records hours, and matches skills to roles to assist coordinators. While not a complex solution, V4S can be set up in days with minimal cost—making it a perfect fit for our client’s needs. This project highlights one of Salesforce’s key strengths: a rich ecosystem of pre-built apps available on the AppExchange that can solve problems quickly and cost-effectively.
