Back in early June, I published an interview in this column with Derek Featherstone, who works as vice president of accessibility and inclusive design at San Francisco-based Salesforce. At the time, we discussed his background and how he joined the company, as well as what accessibility—nebulous it often is to most folks—means to the organization. The conversation, much like the one I had with Featherstone’s peer in Netflix’s Heather Dowdy, was a “coming out” party of sorts for Salesforce’s accessibility efforts. Although both are undisputed heavyweights in the tech sphere, until recently neither has enjoyed name recognition with regards to what they contribute to furthering disability inclusion.
