AWS CEO Matt Garman addressed the growing anxiety among software engineers that artificial intelligence—specifically agentic AI like the new Amazon Quick Suite—will make their jobs obsolete. Speaking at a tech conference, Garman argued that while AI will dramatically reduce the need for manual coding, it will not replace the need for skilled problem-solvers. He urged developers to view AI as a tool to eliminate "undifferentiated heavy lifting" and boilerplate code, allowing them to focus on high-value system architecture and innovation rather than syntax.
