Amazon Web Services and electronic design automation (EDA) leader Synopsys have signed a landmark multi-year licensing agreement valued at over $1 billion. Under the deal, AWS will leverage Synopsys' advanced software tools to accelerate the development, verification, and optimization of its custom in-house silicon—including Graviton CPUs and Trainium AI accelerators. Simultaneously, Synopsys is expanding its cloud-native EDA platform natively on AWS, allowing semiconductor engineers worldwide to design and simulate advanced chips directly in the cloud.
