SALESFORCE ORG MIGRATION FOR FASTER DEPLOYMENTS

OVERVIEW
A global employee learning and development program serving 1M+ fulfillment center employees wanted greater operational independence. The program reimburses employees for a variety of educational opportunities, including basic skills development such as GED or language courses, training for specific job roles like healthcare or driving, college degrees and professional certifications, and personalized guidance through coaching partners. Previously, the program shared a Salesforce instance with multiple other teams, creating delays and dependencies that slowed project delivery. Migrating to a dedicated Salesforce instance gave the team autonomy to manage data, deploy features, and accelerate updates across all learning pathways.
THE CHALLENGE
The program shared a Salesforce instance with HR and eight other teams. Any release cycle required coordination across groups, which led to overwritten code, deployment issues, and long delays. The program’s reliance on other teams limited their ability to innovate and maintain continuity for employees worldwide. Accurate tracking of employee reimbursements and participation was also critical, adding complexity to every change. To improve agility, productivity, and data reliability, the program needed a standalone Salesforce environment that eliminated cross-team dependencies while supporting its global scale.
Salesforce Authentication Failure Fix
OUR SOLUTION

We executed a six-month, end-to-end migration to a new Salesforce instance designed exclusively for the learning program. This included:

• Setting up a fresh Salesforce environment and migrating all components, configurations, and custom features.
• Replicating Lightning Web Components, Visualforce pages, and Apex logic to maintain functionality.
• Using Salesforce Data Loader for non-dependent data sets and developing custom Apex code for dependent data sets to ensure accuracy.
• Leveraging the Ant Migration Tool to efficiently transfer code and configurations.
• Implementing Batch Apex to process millions of employee records in bulk.
• Configuring Custom Metadata and Settings for flexible future enhancements.
• Creating Email Templates to keep employees and administrators informed throughout the transition.

The migration gave the program team full control of its release cycles, allowing them to focus on testing and validating features rather than negotiating dependencies with other groups.
