MODERNIZING CONSTRUCTION ACCESS MANAGEMENT
OVERVIEW
A large enterprise organization needed to modernize its construction access management platform used by thousands of internal employees and external partners. The existing Salesforce-based system had reached its scalability limits, creating operational bottlenecks that impacted project timelines and vendor relationships.
A cloud-native solution was required to automate workflows, enhance security, and deliver a seamless self-service experience with real-time visibility and a scalable infrastructure for future growth.
THE CHALLENGE
The legacy Salesforce platform struggled to support growing demand across multiple business units. Manual approval workflows delayed project access, while fragmented user experiences made it difficult for vendors and contractors to navigate requests. Security gaps in third-party access and lack of modern authentication increased risk. Meanwhile, IT teams were burdened with routine provisioning tasks and had limited visibility into request status and approvals across the organization.

OUR SOLUTION
We executed a full migration from Salesforce to a modern AWS cloud-native architecture, completely redesigning the platform to improve scalability, security, and usability. The new solution introduced a self-service portal where external partners could request access using enterprise-grade SSO through their Autodesk accounts. Automated, multi-level approval workflows were implemented with intelligent routing and escalation policies based on request type, eliminating manual bottlenecks.
A centralized administrative dashboard provides real-time visibility into requests, approvals, system activity, and analytics, while integration with enterprise identity systems, HR platforms, financial systems, and construction tools such as BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) ensures consistent and accurate data across platforms. Role-based access controls maintain appropriate permissions for all user types, and automated project creation and cross-platform provisioning streamline operations while reducing configuration errors and administrative overhead.
The platform was designed with a user-centric approach, incorporating feedback from Senior Leaders, Finance Managers, and project stakeholders. Role-specific dashboards and intuitive tracking pages allow each stakeholder group to monitor and manage requests efficiently, enhancing both usability and operational effectiveness.
